Shower Preparation

One of Mommy's very good friend's is expecting baby boy number 3. We are all so very excited, but Mommy got the crazy idea that she should do something in opposition to her "I am painfully shy, have no idea about proper social etiquette, and would rather snuggle up at home with a good book and hot chocolate" nature and decided with another good friend months ago to throw a Surprise Baby Shower for above noted with-child friend.

Then she told us that to throw said shower she would have to delve deep into her feminine soul and find some sort of domestic skills to throw this off.

My immediate response was . . .

But of course I am Marvelous as you all know, and she came to me with her problems and we set forth on our adventure.

It all started with Making a Chocolate Cake.

And when making a chocolate cake you must do some of this.

And some of this.

Followed by this.

And after several time intense steps, and lots of couching (Mommy, just keep breathing, you will make it Mommy) we ended up with these. Much better success that previous attempts.

But no matter how successful, there is always disaster somewhere.
Oh, the carnage.

But that is not all, Mommy had to bake some more. This took every last bit of umph I could give her.

Don't you just love these little cookies. Mommy ate half the box, don't tell Daddy.

Then you top it with this yummy cheesecake mixture. (And hope there is plenty leftover to lick out of the bowl, beater, and whatever else. Ryker quite enjoyed clean up duty.)

I even conceded and tried some myself. Very tasty

Showcasing the prebaked goodnesses.

And monitoring the baking process. Note yummy golded cookie in Ryker's hand.

The last of the pre-shower-day preparation done. Now to talk Mommy through so that she can pull herself together enough to act somewhat human/normal during the shower so as not to embarass the whole family. Or maybe we will just give her the camera so she can hide behind that and just take a bazillion pictures. That might be better for the family name.

Way to go. You are inspiring me to get over my fear of throwing a party/shower.

I wish I could have been there to be a part of the cupcake-pop carnage. That's something I am good at.

I believe that the cupcake pop "disasters" were quite intentional...how else do you sample them?

I love your stories, Michelle (and your Mommy's pictures). I laughed and laughed (not at the pictures--at the story). It was fun prepping--your Mommy is definitely the cake pop queen. I need to take A LOT more lessons!! Thank you to you and Ryker for all your help!
