Christmas in July

This morning we woke up to a surprise. This was at the level of Christmas and Santa Claus.

DSC_1130

Two huge boxes full of amazing things. What can we say, Teddy rules!

DSC_1166

I told you they were packed full of great things.

DSC_1168

It was hard slowing down, just so much to look at.

DSC_1169

It was like Mary Poppins' carpet bag, stuff just kept coming out.

DSC_1178

And of course, like Christmas, some assembly was required. And since Daddy was at work, I took over the man of house duties.

DSC_1174

Yes, truly a Christmas in July.

Why we love visiting grandparents

DSC_0862DSC_0864

Running around in the dirt . . .  mostly naked.

DSC_0867 DSC_0871

Exploring the yard . . . mostly naked.

DSC_0884 DSC_0885

Playing on the playset . . . mostly naked.

DSC_0904

Jumping on the jumpoline . . . mostly naked.

DSC_0914

So I like being mostly naked.

DSC_0937

It makes it easier for Mommy to give me zerbits when we wrestle.

DSC_0956

But I did get dressed later. Swim trunks count as getting dressed.

DSC_0950

They are the appropriate attire for Grandpa to teach me about the refractory properties of water particles that in the end create something as beautiful as a rainbow. Gotta love science!

DSC_0990

Oh, and by the way, they have trees full of these. Applesauce, Apple Pie Filling, Apple Butter . . . Yummy.

DSC_0992

And Tino is there. We love Tino if you hadn't already figured that out.

DSC_0997

And Jana was there too. She reminded us a lot of Mommy. Can you guess why?

DSC_1016

Then there is family picnics.

DSC_1018

With family picnics is the opportunity to hang out with family (meaning great-grandma, grandpa, grandma, aunts, uncles, cousins and just a ton of fun).

DSC_1029 DSC_1019

Cool cousins who want to hang out with me. And when I say cool, I mean cool. His shirt and hat tells me he bleeds Blue.

DSC_1040

Thought they left me home? Nope, I don't like the mostly naked thing, and I don't like the hot weather. I prefer being made up beautiful by my aunts and cousins inside where it is cool.

DSC_1045

But when the sun went down and the yard is full of shade, I join them outside.

DSC_1054

And when no one is watching, my inner tiger comes out and I try to steal the food off your plate.

DSC_1071

Then there is this cute little sweetheart who Mommy fell completely in love with. Who wouldn't love that sweet face and yogurt covered hand?

DSC_1088

We also see Grandma and Grandpa who have this beautiful building down the street. How lucky are they to have his majestic building so close.

DSC_1127

And for all posterity to see. Grandma jumping on the jumpoline.

These are our reasons we love visiting our Grandmas and Grandpas.

Therapy Update!

So I know you are all dying to know what cool things I do in my therapies all week. Because, I really do get to do cool things.

Physical Therapy

DSC_0805

For Physical Therapy this week, Mommy brought in the tricycle.

DSC_0809

Listening closely to my therapist.

DSC_0812

Until they invent clip ins for Radio Flyer Tricycles, this theraband will have to do the trick.

Occupational Therapy

DSC_0817

What is this glowing gooeyness? Atomic Worms! Part of my therapy is to introduce me to different sensory experiences. Boy, was this an experience.

DSC_0821

That was how impressed I was.

DSC_0822

Some other parts of my therapy (and there are lots of things we are working on) is upper body strength/trunk control and hand strengthening. One way to to hit a bunch of things is to have me sit on a scooter hold on to something and have someone pull me around. As you can see, Ryker loves to help with this one.

Speech Therapy (Focus: Feeding)

DSC_0833

Yep, I have a whole therapy just to help me learn how to eat. As my Tino recently said when she was here to visit, "I never imagined I would actually get to help someone learn to swallow."

DSC_0835

Sometimes the vibrating brush tickles, but I just keep my eye on the goal. CHOCOLATE!

DSC_0838

Never thought you would ever hear an adult tell a munchkin to stick out their tongue, let alone teach them how to do it. But that is what we do.

DSC_0840

Now figuring out to get the tip of my tongue to touch the top of my mouth. Did you know this an crucial part of being able to swallow? It is.

DSC_0842

Just about got it . . .

DSC_0845

And I got it! Look really close at my tongue and you will see it up to the top of mouth. Another major goal checked off.

Speech Therapy (Focus: Communication)

DSC_9491

In this therapy, I have tons of goals. I pass them off pretty quick, but sometimes, I like to tease my therapist.

DSC_9492

Mommy is constantly telling me to "pay attention" and "cooperate."

DSC_9493

And so I try.

DSC_9496

And I prove to this world once again, that I am the Marvelous Michelle and I can do anything!

Fabulous Fourth Fun!

The 4th of July! Yesterday 0ur little town had their parade. And Mommy and Daddy had a little picnic. But today is the real thing. So I decided to look at this day from its other name, Independence Day. How did I celebrate this? I found another great avenue of Independence, my tricycle.

DSC_0780

Yep, I like my trike.

DSC_0794

And so did Ryker.

Plus we got really stylish new helmets to go with the cool new ride. Happy Independence Day!

The Park

Today was hot, too hot for Mommy. When Daddy got home she was refusing to cook in the house. So Daddy came up with a plan. Take us all to the park and have a hot dog picnic.

DSC_0764

So first we spent our fair share of time on the swings. Thank you Physical Therapy for teaching me how to love swinging.

DSC_0766

And thank you Physical Therapy for teaching Michelle to like swinging so that Daddy and Mommy will take us.

DSC_0771

Yummy Hot Dogs!

DSC_0775

My, "I am so happy to be out of the house" smile.

DSC_0777

My, "I love picnic food" smile.

DSC_0778

Daddy's, "I am happy to be out of my office and at a park eating a picnic with my family" smile.

It was a wonderful evening. We will have to do it again.
