Therapy Update!

So I know you are all dying to know what cool things I do in my therapies all week. Because, I really do get to do cool things.

Physical Therapy

For Physical Therapy this week, Mommy brought in the tricycle.

Listening closely to my therapist.

Until they invent clip ins for Radio Flyer Tricycles, this theraband will have to do the trick.

Occupational Therapy

What is this glowing gooeyness? Atomic Worms! Part of my therapy is to introduce me to different sensory experiences. Boy, was this an experience.

That was how impressed I was.

Some other parts of my therapy (and there are lots of things we are working on) is upper body strength/trunk control and hand strengthening. One way to to hit a bunch of things is to have me sit on a scooter hold on to something and have someone pull me around. As you can see, Ryker loves to help with this one.

Speech Therapy (Focus: Feeding)

Yep, I have a whole therapy just to help me learn how to eat. As my Tino recently said when she was here to visit, "I never imagined I would actually get to help someone learn to swallow."

Sometimes the vibrating brush tickles, but I just keep my eye on the goal. CHOCOLATE!

DSC_0838

Never thought you would ever hear an adult tell a munchkin to stick out their tongue, let alone teach them how to do it. But that is what we do.

Now figuring out to get the tip of my tongue to touch the top of my mouth. Did you know this an crucial part of being able to swallow? It is.

Just about got it . . .

And I got it! Look really close at my tongue and you will see it up to the top of mouth. Another major goal checked off.

Speech Therapy (Focus: Communication)

In this therapy, I have tons of goals. I pass them off pretty quick, but sometimes, I like to tease my therapist.

Mommy is constantly telling me to "pay attention" and "cooperate."

And so I try.

And I prove to this world once again, that I am the Marvelous Michelle and I can do anything!

You are definitely one of my heroes, Michelle. You are truly AMAZING!! Keep up the good work, and I think we will have to grab Mommy and go visit Ben & Jerry's for some delicious, rich triple chocolate ice cream.
