Elizabeth will be posting the full birth story of her twins, but I just wanted to post a few details. She went into labor early this morning and was able to get an epidural just in time to deliver. She barely pushed and the boys were here! She had Luke Michael at 6:46 and not but two minutes later did Maxwell Henry arrive. We are glad that she and the babies are healthy and doing well.
Because the boys were born early (32 weeks 1 day) they will be spending some time in the NICU. They will probably be there for 3-6 weeks--long enough that they can breathe on their own, eat on their own and gain some weight. Not too uncommon for twins that are born early. Other than being on a CPAP (helps keep the lungs open) they are doing well.
Enjoy the photos!
Had to take photos of the names, so I wouldn't get the two confused! They don't look exactly alike, but they sure are tiny little babies and at first, it's hard to tell them apart.

The CPAP machine. He was holding on to it.
Big brother Ryker! He was so excited to see his babies. What a fun household they will have. Love having boys.

Oh WOW!! You did great, Elizabeth! They look absolutely beautiful, and soon they'll be home with their wonderful family. Congratulations to you all!
Congrats to everyone. Elizabeth, I've told so many people over the past few weeks that you are a saint. Your determination brought about a Christmas miracle - you were still pregnant.
Happy birthday Luke and Max!
I'm so glad you are all healthy right now. What a blessing. Handsome boys and wonderful names! I wish I could be up there to give you all a big hug of congratulations...and make you all some dinner!
Congrats Thornton fam! They are beautiful!!
Wow!! What a great way to end the year. Luke and Max are every bit as adorable as Michelle and Ryker (I wouldn't expect any less)--I'm so glad I got to see them yesterday. Dan is loving taking care of them. Hopefully, he won't have to do that for very long--we want to see them at home. Congratulations, Thornton family!! Here is to an exciting (healthy!) new year!
I have been wanting to talk to you for days, but its great to see the joy on your faces!I remember so well how happy we were after the twins were born. I know you talked about being scared and overwhelmed, but seeing your faces and the spirit the day of their birth, its amazing to see the confidence there. I remember the giddy feeling I had, and its obvious its in your faces, too! You will rise to the occasion once again! I admire you guys and respect you more than you know--you are my heroes. Love you, Reed
So glad you and the babies are doing good! Wasn't too long ago that we were in the nicu. I hope and pray that all goes as good as possible to get those little boys home as soon as they can. (I know it's not a fun place to be.) Love their names!! and congrats!
