Camping 101

I am almost three years old and have had tons of amazing adventures. But one very important type of adventure has been eluding me. Camping! And what better place to camp for the first time than your own backyard.
Here I am helping Daddy figure out all the tent poles. This was hard work you know.
Here is Daddy doing the labor intensive pole straightening.
Ryker doing what he does best, supervising.
Hammering down the stakes so we wouldn't blow away in case there was a freak tornado during the middle of the night. You never can be too careful.Taking a mini break after the rigors of setting up the tent. Phew. (A little side note: last time Mommy and Daddy used this tent they almost got eaten by wolves, literally. But that is another story.)
Enjoying fabulous camping food, tin foil dinners, oh so yummy.
And even better was the dessert. Banana Boats, a little bit of heaven wrapped up in aluminum.
The all important campfire. Mommy said this was her very favorite part of camping as little girl. Staying up way too late watching the fire.Making the all important s'more.
Waking up the next morning. You might not believe it, but all four us slept in the tent all night together. It was fabulous. I just can't wait for our next camping trip.

(disclaimer for all those health care workers and over protective grandparents out there reading this: don't worry, Daddy and Mommy made sure they had my "equipment" outside with us. They had ran the extension cord out from the house and everything went super smooth.)

What a fun "adventure" Michelle, my kids love camping in the backyard also. Those banana boats look yummy, glad you had a good time.

Michelle you're luckier than your Dad he never got to camp out in the back yard. Unless you call sleeping on the trampoline camping out.

What a great way to make some fun family memories! I'm amazed the kids slept in the tent for you. Tyler is too excited to sleep...it makes for a rough night!

That dinner looked delicious!

I remember the wolf story. You should do a flashback post on that...Anyway, it looks like the camping in the back yard turned out perfect and wolf free.

I'm going to have to present this to Landon. You are soooo creative! Michelle will never be able to say that she missed out on anything.

Wow! I think you are a daring little family! What fun posts you've had. I am barely catching up on them all since my computer has been soooo slow lately! I hope you are all doing well! Love ya!

I am impressed that you all stayed out on the tent. I may have went back into my own bed. It looks like you had a lot of fun. Ryker and Michelle are getting so grown up. They change way too quickly. You guys have had a lot of fun adventures lately. Congrats in the new job Tory!

Michelle, make sure your parents are nowhere near.. *whisper whisper* You need to smile your dazzling smile at them and tell them you need to come camping with Doug and I. Seriously, what could go wrong with a couple of nurses, an EMT, and...a graphic design student? Hmm...maybe Doug's qualifications will be left out of the convincing your parents part... ;)
